Are you buying a home in Rockwall Texas and using an FHA loan? Then this may be important information for you. I am a home inspector, and not an appraisor, but I have done enough home inspections for clients with FHA loans to know what they generally “pick on”.
One of the primary things is handrails for steps. I have hear mixed things such as: “it needs four treads before we require handrails” or “Three steps and we require handrails”. In my opnion, stairs should have handrails anyway. But for the sake of an FHA loan, the three step rule is a good general rule to go by.
On a side not, they also tend to pick on peeling paint. So be sure those things are covered ahead of time to avoid trouble.
